The Beauty Gift Swap!

Hey guys! How’s your Sunday going? Today I want to post about something I’m a part of and I’d love for you to be a part of it too! I’m admin for  a beauty swap box group on Facebook where each month members are teamed with a buddy and you each put together a box filled with lovely beauty, skincare products and other little gifts that you think your buddy will like. The amount you want to spend on your swap box gifts is entirely up to you and your buddy!  You don’t have to join in each month, you can just do it the once if you’d like.

It’s lots of fun and it’s great making new friends in the process. If you’d like to join or want to know more then click on one of the pictures to take you to the group. Sadly, because it may be expensive to post to other countries, the group is for UK and Ireland residents only.

E.L.F Flawless Finish Foundation and Volumizing and Defining Mascara Review.

Hey guys! I recently got my hands on the E.L.F Flawless Finish foundation and Volumizing and Defining mascara so I thought I’d let you know what I thought of them. The foundation is of a liquid consistency and I’d say it gives a medium coverage. I really liked this foundation. It went on really well and smelled lovely which is an added bonus! It did go a little patchy but more of a spritz of setting spray on my blender may fix that in the future. The foundation has quite a light feel to once on my skin which is perfect for the this hot weather.

The mascara? I love! There’s no clumpyness and it really did make them more volumised and noticeable! Not that you can tell by my photograph taking skills below  haha but you can definitely tell I’m wearing mascara which, usually, you can’t.

The foundation retails at £7.50 and the mascara retails at £3.00! I purchased them from Superdrug but you can buy direct from E.L.F. There is a wider range of products on E.L.F’s and they can also have some great sales on too so it’s worth checking out!
Do you own any E.L.F products? Let me know in the comments below!

YSL Haul and FoTD

Ok, I had a makeup splurge! I had never tried YSL makeup before but had heard so many good things about the brand in general and I had been wanting the Touché Éclat for the longest time so I thought, “Eh! What the hell! Go for it!” So I took the plunge! I was initially going to buy the touché éclat from Boots’ online site but then thought I’d just go direct and I’m so glad I did! Why? Well I got freebies! And who doesn’t like freebies! I bought the Touché Éclat (in the shade 1.5 as I’m pale but not ghost-like plus I have yellow undertones) and the Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain in shade 35. When I got to the check-out I realised I’d qualified for some freebies! Woohoo! This consisted of:

2 x Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils samples

2 x Black Opium samples

1 x Forever Youth Liberator sample

1 x Dessin De Lèvres – lip liner in shade 6

1 x Top Secrets Eye Makeup Remover

I was so excited to see the YSL parcel waiting for me when I got back from my trip to London (more about my trip in a later post). It was like Christmas Day all over again with the freebies and all! Here are the goodies:

The first thing I thought when I saw the shade in person was, “Eek! It’s bright pink!” as I was expecting a more softer, natural pink.

Ok, so the inner of my arm is more pale than the actual shade but it worked quite well with my face’s skin tone. I think if I’d got the lighter shade, it would have washed me out.

And here are the freebies:

I gave one of the perfume samples to my mum as I knew she’d love it! Dad bought her a bottle of the original Opium around 30 years ago and she still has the bottle sat on her dresser to this day! The lip liner is more plum-y than bright pink like the lip stain but that’s ok with me, it tones down the colour a little.

Here’s me wearing the wearing my YSL gloss stain and touché éclat:

So what do you think? Have any of you guys tried YSL? Do you love it? Hate it? Comment below! I hope you’re all having a lovely weekend! I’m home for the next few weekends which sadly means I won’t be seeing my boyfriend but it does mean I can concentrate on my proofreading so yay!

My March Birchbox Unboxing…

I love the design for the box this month! Hmm I wonder what I could use it for…

Here’s what’s inside this month:

I’m unsure about using the Whish Body Butter as I’m not a lover of lavender but we’ll see how it goes. I might be surprised!

I can’t wait to try the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer although it will have to wait until I’ve bought a shower cap or a plastic cap of some kind to use with it.

The perfume smells lovely and the scent lasts for hours.

The little notebook will come in handy at work no doubt as I work in the office.

There’s a 20% off voucher to spend at Habitat included this month. I’ve never shopped there before so I’m gonna have a nose and see what lovely things I can buy.

I tried Benefit’s Roller Lash this morning. It does tend to clog if you’re not careful. When I got home from work, I wiped it off with a makeup wipe and reapplied. The remnants of the makeup wipe actually helped the mascara to go on better. My lashes looked lovely this time and not spidery like before! I find that a dab of moisturiser on the lashes helps when applying mascara too (which I didn’t do this morning lol). 😊

I haven’t tried the Lord & Berry eyeliner yet but shall give it a go tomorrow.

I really appreciated getting a sample of  Penny Vincenzi’s A Perfect Heritage because I love to read and discovering new books!

Has your March Birchbox arrived? What did you think to it this month?

A bit of primer and mascara go a long way.

I am in no way an expert at the art of applying makeup and most of the time I don’t bother wearing it. However, I do feel a little more human-looking once I’ve put on some primer, mascara and lip balm. I don’t always do it but when I can’t be bothered to put on the full war paint yet still want to make some kind of effort, those are my go-to items. I just feel that the primer smooths out the flaws a little? the mascara brings out the eyes and the lip balm makes your lips smooth and soft.

(Sorry about the crappy quality of the photo)

Today I used my Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, Avon Supershock mascara in black and another mascara, also in black, which has a ball style brush to help separate and “lengthen” the lashes. It also helps get the lashes in the outer corner of the eye. I love that mascara but can’t for the life of me remember what brand it is as all the writing had come off but it’s red with a black top. The lip balm I used is by Cecily. It’s Banoffee Pie flavoured!
