Dark Secret Blog Tour and Book Review!
Book Review – Dark Secret by Danielle Rose.
I fell in love with this book straight away! Witches AND vampires?! What’s not to love if you’re a fan of YA paranormal reads? I love how in-depth Danielle went with the witches and their magic lore and I love the spin that she took with the main character, Ava, after a fight with a vampire didn’t quite go to plan. Ava is tasked with protecting her coven and the village of Darkhaven from the vampires but her coven doesn’t trust her ability to sense the darkness that is coming which she tries to prove otherwise. Throughout the book she goes from strength to strength, but not without her flaws and weaknesses, whilst she struggles to adapt to a life she never wanted. There is a hint of romance running through this book which I really enjoyed and am excited to see where it’ll lead in the second book. Danielle’s writing is incredibly detailed and such a delight to read. I really enjoyed that it was written in first person too. This would be the perfect book if you’re just starting out on your YA paranormal journey.

There’s no wrath like that of a witch scorned.
Seventeen-year-old spirit witch Ava López is the self-appointed guardian of the witches and humans of Darkhaven, an idyllic village nestled between the forest and the sea. Her watch: vicious and bloodthirsty vampires.
Ava is a novice in the eyes of her coven. If she expects to protect them and the secrecy of their powers, she must gain better control of her own. When a full moon ritual goes awry, control may be lost forever, and Ava is exiled from her coven. Forced to seek refuge among the beings she had always sworn herself to hunt, she vows revenge on those who have upended her life.
But the more time Ava spends away from her coven, the more she discovers a startling truth: the witches haven’t been honest with her. Ava’s quest to strip the truth from everything she’s ever known begins with the toughest realization of all—coming to terms with who she has become.

Wow, ok, so it’s occurred to me that I haven’t let the bloggersphere know that I’m pregnant again with our second little girl! I blame it on the baby brain! Although I have announced it on social media so if you follow me over there then you may already know!
Willow is incredibly excited to be a big sister! I’ve no doubt she’ll be wanting to help out as much as she possibly can. She’s turning 4 this month, can you believe it? I don’t even know where the time has gone! She’s turning in to this beautiful and bright little girl right in front of our eyes! She’s doing incredibly well at nursery and we’re so proud of her!
Today I thought I’d share with you some bump pics! I’m 23 weeks as of yesterday! I’m shocked at how fast this pregnancy is going! I’m so excited to meet baby Mia; I just wish she was here already.
For so long we were adamant that we weren’t having any more babies. My first pregnancy was an emotional rollercoaster with an awful lot of anxiety and I struggled physically, too, with being an amputee on top of the usual difficulties you get with being pregnant (ugh SPD anyone?). I didn’t enjoy being pregnant at all and I felt so guilty about that. I just wanted Willow to be brought to us by a stork or something haha.
When labour day approached I was perfectly fine and excited right up until the point it was time to go to the hospital. I get severe anxiety when it comes to hospitals and operations, so for me it was a pretty traumatic experience, especially as I had to be taken to a second hospital that was better equipped to deliver baby Willow by emergency c-section (I couldn’t get any further than 3cm dilated, my blood pressure was insanely high, Willow’s heart beat incredibly low, and they discovered I had an infection -sepsis). I’m not afraid to admit I was a mess and panicking because I didn’t know what the hell was going on. This time I’m having an elected C-section in the hopes I’ll feel calmer and more prepared about what’s to come. Hmmm I’ll let you know how that one goes lol. But they say it’s more relaxed when you have an elected C-section so fingers crossed. I’ll have a chat with them too about my anxiety and hopefully I can get a hold on that and squish it down so that I can actually enjoy the experience this time. 😊💜
Whenever I’d get asked if I’d wanted any more kids and I said no, explaining my reasons, my friends would always tell me no two pregnancies are the same. So far, they were right! My second pregnancy has been a joy so far – apart from the morning sickness in the first trimester. Although even that was a lot more smooth running than my first pregnancy! Hopefully things will continue to go well!
This time we’ll be doing some things a little differently. When I had Willow I was too shy to breastfeed, always worrying about other people’s feelings. This time I want to give it a go. I just have this overwhelming feeling to breastfeed. Hopefully I can do it for as long as baby Mia needs it. Any advice you have is welcome!
We’re also going to be using re-usable/cloth nappies! It’s shocking how many nappies get thrown away each week and put into landfill! I just can’t bring myself to add to it. If anyone has any recommendations on which cloth nappies to buy then please feel free to comment! I’d love to hear from you.

I have this knack of accidentally sitting back, forgetting my book is there, and creasing the cover or it being accidentally knocked off the arm of the chair. 😭 So I thought it high time I got me a book sleeve! How blooming cute is this by The Story Gift? Ahhh books and cats (and black cats no less!)… Two of my favourite things!
I also just had to have the metal bookmark too. It was a tough choice between tea and coffee though because I actually love to drink both – though not at the same time obviously haha. I would love to also make a suggestion for a cat and books inspired bookmark. Then my life will be complete! 😀
My daughter is currently walking around “keeping my book and sleeve safe” as she cuddles them, bless her. She says she wants one of her own so I may have to see if there’s one she’d like.
I’d definitely recommend a book sleeve. I honestly don’t know why I haven’t bought one before now!
Wow I am actually an owner of a genuine piece of art!
I am so in love with this fluid painting by Foxx Art Official! This piece of art is called “Sahara” and I’m so happy that it’s now home with me and I can call it mine. I have been admiring Foxx Art’s pieces for quite a while now, just waiting for the right piece to call out to me, so as soon as Hannah from Foxx Art posted about this piece I knew I had to have it.
I love the orange with the gold glitter running through it. It’s so beautiful! I don’t think I’ll be stopping at owning just this gorgeous piece, there’s sure to be more of her art that I’ll want to own. You should definitely stop by her Facebook page or her Instagram and check out more of her amazing art!
Hey guys and gals! I cannot tell you how happy I am that these have arrived! My skin is crying out for help. It did not like my Body Shop face wash at all. It made my face sore and spotty and gave me dry patches so fingers crossed Angels on Bare Skin will soothe it and make it feel much better. As well as using Celestial moisturiser on my face, I’m going to use it on my hands. They are so awful atm and my palms are so itchy and sore! I made sure I went for a product that has mostly natural ingredients and NO perfume because my skin is quite sensitive and I have dermatitis/eczema so a lot of things can set it off.
Hop on over to K Rose B Cosmetics to check out their amazingly pigmented (I’m not kidding! They really are crazy pigmented) eyeshadow pans and lashes! The eyeshadows pans are 36mm in size, so bigger than standard pans, and also come with an iron sticker so that you can put them in your magnetic palettes!
Eyeshadows = £4
Magnetic palette = £5 (currently showing out of stock)
Lash applicator = £4.50
Lashes = £8.50 – £12
Here’s an example of a couple of the eyeshadows and how pigmented they are (pics taken from the site).
Anyone else love Imperial Candles? They are a soy wax candle company who put a nice sparkly surprise inside your scented candle – either a ring, earrings or necklace.
They also do wax melts, bath bombs and bath salts. You can choose what type of jewellery you would like or keep it a total surprise. The design and whether it is 925 sterling silver, 9ct yellow or white gold will also be a surprise. I bought my first candle – cherry vanilla and it smells like cherry bakewells! – a few days ago (and also bought one for my mum at Christmas and I’ve bought my sister one for her 30th next month) and this is what was inside mine.
The ring is 925 sterling silver and the gemstone is Madagascan Ruby. I really want another now. I’ve actually asked my other half if he’d get me one for Valentines Day! Think this will be my new obsession! Move over Yankee Candles, I have a new love!
The lovely Jasmine at Jazzy Jems kindly sent me one of her handmade bracelets in return for an honest review. I love handmade things so how could I not oblige? 🙂. It came in the mail today and it’s so darn cute!
Jasmine can customise the bracelets so you can choose silver or coloured beads, what charms you’d like and also the length of the bracelet so that it’ll be the perfect fit for you or a loved one. I went for coloured beads because they are more me!
They are so pretty and kinda remind me of mermaids! I love that it’s a mixture of colours that compliments each other really. Because the bracelets are thin, they’d look fab if you wore a few together with different charms on!
If you’re looking for a cute jewellery gift for someone then definitely check out Jasmine’s Facebook page. There you’ll find other bracelets that she’s done as well as rings too!
Hey guys! How’s your weekend going? Just a very short post today I’m afraid….
Got my Yankee Candle lit this evening. Candy Corn has to be my fave Yankee Candle scent! Unlike my other Yankees, this gorgeous sweet smell just lingers all round my flat! It’s beautiful!
I’m trying to use up my candles as I have quite a few so, of late, I’ve been making a concerted effort to light them each night. If anyone has any other scented candles to recommend please let me know. I’d love to try them. Especially if they’re vegan friendly!
