Book Review – Free Fall By Abigail Davies.

Blurb:

“We were never meant to meet; our paths shouldn’t have crossed.

And yet they did.

As an undercover DEA agent, I always thought things through. I didn’t take chances, because I knew one misstep could have disastrous consequences.

Until I met her.

The little sister of my next target.

Lola was a feisty young woman trying to claw her way out of a bad neighborhood.

She was forbidden in every sense of the word, and not just because of the sixteen year age gap.

We were taught to expect the unexpected, but nothing could have prepared me for what was about to happen.

I fell hard.

I fell fast.

I freefalled heart first.

But there was a secret I was keeping, and if revealed, it’d destroy the lives of those I’d vowed to protect.

One wrong move and everything could erupt in our faces.

All that remained was one question…

Was she worth it?”

*Free Fall is book one in the Fallen Duet. A two-part, angst-fuelled, gripping tale of forbidden love, complete with a jaw-dropping twist you’ll never see coming.*

One of the things that I love about this book is that the readers were kept in the dark! OMG wow I did not see that ending coming! I was 97% done when I figured it out! I can’t believe it took me so long! But wow! I. Am. Shocked! I knew Brody had a past and a life away from his undercover job but wow I wasn’t expecting that! Ahhh jeeeez! What’s gonna happen now?!

As you can tell from my rambling above, I really, really enjoyed this book! It was written so well and, for a change, I didn’t find myself getting antzy everytime I came across a spelling mistake/grammatical error (it’s the proofreader in me; she never sleeps) and why? Because it was pretty much spot on and very well edited!

The story flowed so easily, the characters were likeable and unlikeable depending on who we’re talking about. I’m a fan of first person perspective, which this is written in, and I love that we get to see the story unfold through both Lola and Brody’s eyes. Ahhh I’m so routing for them! I want them to drive off into the sunset and have their happy ever after! I definitely suggest you go buy this like, right now!

Downfall ( Fallen Duet – Book 2)

Life was chaotic and unpredictable; made up of a series of events—a collection of firsts.

First crush.

First kiss.

First love.
Between the murky waters, I’d found salvation.

And it was all because of him—the broody alpha who appeared at the time I needed him most.

He promised me things, and showed me the life I could have.

But all it took was one moment to destroy everything.

Nothing else mattered.

No one else mattered.

It was him and me against the world.

Until it wasn’t.

I hadn’t known just how forbidden our love was.

I hadn’t known I’d been tutoring his son.

I hadn’t known about the family he had hidden away.

I hadn’t known he was cheating—with me.

I wish I could say I wanted to take it all back, but it’d be a lie.

A blatant lie.

He was my biggest downfall, but I’d never regret it.

Choosing him was never an option, the question was whether he’d risk it all.

Downfall is book two in the Fallen Duet. The final instalment in the two part, drama filled, heart felt, epic love story.

About the Author

Abigail Davies grew up with a passion for words, storytelling, maths, and anything pink. Dreaming up characters–quite literally–and talking to them out loud is a daily occurrence for her. She finds it fascinating how a whole world can be built with words alone, and how everyone reads and interprets a story differently. Now following her dreams of writing, Abigail has found the passion that she always knew was there. When she’s not writing: she’s a mother to two daughters who she encourages to use their imagination as she believes that it’s a magical thing, or getting lost in a good book. If she’s doing neither of those things, you can be sure she’s surfing the web buying new makeup, clothes, or binge watching another show as she becomes one with her sofa.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn – Mini Book Review.

I’ve just finished reading Gone Girl. That’s how it ends?! Really?! It’s actually left me feeling quite deflated and disappointed. 🙁 Throughout the book I got so frustrated (in an excited, tell me who did it godamnit, kinda way) and just wanted to cheat and skip right to the end. Then I eventually get there and I’m like… “Oh. Meh.” Kind of annoyed by it, ya know? Wasn’t quite what I was expecting. For me, it’s ended up being that one book that everyone raves about, so you read it, and it doesn’t live up to your expectations. Very anticlimactic. The book in itself was fast paced and kept me glued. I mean, I was bloody reading every chance I got, hoping that karma would make an appearance, but she didn’t and things took a really random turn with an odd ending that felt a bit rushed and sort of like the author was running out of ideas on how to conclude it, or something like that. It just didn’t sit right with me. I feel bad leaving a negative review, especially as people rate this book so highly but, I’m sorry guys, I just didn’t love it. It gets a thumbs down from me.
