My Birthday gifts wish list.

OK so I know it isn’t until October but for the past week or so I’ve been thinking about what I’d like for my birthday (you can never start too early haha plus it gives people time to buy you gifts) and which beauty products I’ve been wanting for ages not to mention other things I’ve been lusting over. Click on the pics to take you to the links. 😀

No. 7 Illuminated Makeup Mirror.

I have been wanting this mirror for so long! However, if anyone has any recommendations for me, I’d love to hear them! Especially when it comes to the magnified side and the brightness of the light.

Morphe Brushes Eyeshadow Palettes.

I am in love with Morphe Brushes eyeshadow palettes and would love to own more. They are definitely going on my birthday wish list

Morphe eyeshadow palette 35R.

This is such a beautiful palette! Look at those golden shimmers! I love that there’s matte shades too.  I can only find it on Morphe’s actual site though. Beauty Bay and Cult Beauty don’t seem to have it in stock.

Morphe eyeshadow palette 35B.

I don’t own a bright eyeshadow palette so this is definitely something I want, no, NEED in my collection. Again, I’m loving the fact there’s both matte and shimmer shades in this palette. Dying to get my hands on it! Imagine all the different looks you could do!

There’s more palettes I want from Morphe but I’ll stick with those. For now.

Juvia’s Place The Magic Palette.

I don’t own any products from Juvia’s Place but I have heard soooo many fab things about their eyeshadow palettes. I would love to have this one in my collection.

Spectrum x Mean Girls Mini Burn Book and Brush Set.

Soooo fetch!

I LOVE the movie Mean Girls and I adore Spectrum brushes. I was so excited when they revealed that they were doing this collab! Roll on tomorrow! They are quite pricey but gosh so pretty!

Lime Crime Metallic Velvetines in Eclipse.

I love Lime Crime lippies. There are many shades that I want but this shade is so darn pretty! They also currently have free worldwide shipping on orders $20+. Sooo tempting!

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare.

The second novel in the Dark Artifices series.

I am a huuuuge Shadowhunters fan! I have loved Cassandra Clare’s novels ever since I read the first three in the Mortal Instruments series – so you can imagine how ecstatic I was when she announced she was writing book four! She really sucks you in to the stories and makes you love/hate the characters as if they were your own friends/enemies. If there is a writer I aspire to be like,  it is her. I love the Shadowhunters fandom. My sister and I have even cosplayed as Shadowhunters! I did it for LFCC and then we both did it when we went to see City of Bones at the cinema.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Encyclopedia: The Ultimate Guide to the Buffyverse.

Ahhh Buffy. My first love when it comes to my favourite TV shows. This is where my love of all things paranormal properly began. I am such a nerd when it comes to Buffy haha. I’ve had so much Buffy merch over the years, it’s unreal. I’ve got Buffy on VHS, dvd AND the special collectors edition boxset from back when it was first released. I have Angel too (of course!) as does my fiancé but I refuse to get rid of my boxset because it’s the special edition. 😂 I could go on about Buffy all day but I’ll stop here. 😀

Morganville Season 1.

I loooved the book series by Rachel Caine (If you love your vampires then def check them out!) so I dying to see if the show has done it justice!

Vampire Buffy and Vampire Angel pop figures.

This is an SDCC 2016 exclusive and I so want it! Unfortunately it’s sold out but I’m hoping it can be found elsewhere. Maybe Ebay.

There’s so many other pop figures I want too; Twilight, Game of Thrones, Disney…

Sunnydale High hoody.

Whilst looking at the pop figures I came across this hoody. It’s Buffy related and it looks so snuggly!

Buffy “I slay” bracelet.

Hot Topic have recently brought out some brilliant Buffy merch. This bracelet is on sale at the mo too!

Buffy tee.

This is another one from Hot Topic. Like I said, I’m a Buffy nerd. Just gimme all the merch!

Pandora Love Makes a Family Charm.

I love my Pandora charms. This will be a suggestion for my other half I think.

Pandora Majestic Swan Charm.

I have a double leather Pandora bracelet and the charms on that are all inspired by books. The swan charm would be a nod to Bella Swan from Twilight.

Pandora Purple Poetic Droplet Ring.

I love purple! It’s one of my fave colours and I’ve had my eye on this ring for quite some time!
Zoeva Rose Golden Palette.

This is another eyeshadow palette that I’ve had my eye on for a while. The shades are all so beautiful!

Zoeva Rose Golden Vol. 2 Complete Eye Brush Set.

I would really love a set of Zoeva brushes. Especially when it comes to eyeshadow as I could do with some more brushes. These particular brushes aren’t cheap but this isn’t called a wish list for nothing lol.

I’m also into crystals (would absolutely love an amethyst geode)  and wicca and love black cats! So I’d love anything to do with those. Love anything Beauty and the Beast related too. I’m sure there are many more things that I’d like but have forgotten so for now I shall end it here. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading. 😀

My Summer Book Stack.

Woohoo the Summer has officially arrived! Happy belated Summer Solstice everyone! Living in Pembrokeshire now means I get to go to the beach a fair bit during the Summer as we have several near by. That is on the few occasions that we actually get to see a bit of sun lol! I’m not one for the hot weather, but I do love bright sunny days where the sky is a beautiful shade of blue with a few fluffy clouds floating by. The perfect opportunity to sit on the beach and do a spot of reading. This brings me to my post. I’ve decided to put together a few books that I’d like to read over the Summer. My Summer book stack! Now, whether I’ll be able to get through them all, I don’t know but I shall certainly try. The books I’ve chosen are:

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

Burn For Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Life and Death Twilight Reimagined by Stephenie Meyer

I’ve had some of these books for quite some time but hadn’t got around to reading them. Hopefully I’ll get through them all this Summer! I am particularly excited about reading Lady Midnight as I adore Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. Have you read any of these? Do you have a Summer TBR list? What will you be reading? Let me know in the comments below! 😃
Oh, and if you don’t already know, we’re on Facebook! Stop on by and say hi!

Take care,

Dayna.

Woohoo we finally have a Jace! What do you think? Does he cut it? Personally, I’m quite happy with the choice.

The Seven Deadly Sins of Reading Tag.

The lovely Katherine at Katherine’s Bookcase tagged me to do this post and I was more than happy to oblige as I do love to read!

Greed

Defined as: An intense and selfish desire for something.

What is your most expensive book?

Hmmm possibly one of my signed hardback books by Cassandra Clare. I think I paid something like £20 each for them.

Wrath

Defined as: Extreme anger.

What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?

It would probably be Cassandra Clare as she isn’t afraid to kill off characters.

Gluttony

Defined as: Intense over-indulgence.

What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?

Twilight is probably the one I’ve read the most. It actually got me back into reading again. I got to the end and just wanted to start it all over again.

Sloth

Defined as: a reluctance to work or make an effort.

What book have you neglected to read due to laziness?

I’m going to mirror Katherine’s answer here and also say the Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire series. They were given to me as a birthday gift a few years ago but I still haven’t begun to read them. Partly because I have so many others still to read but also because I imagine George R. R. Martin’s writing to be like Terry Pratchett’s, whose books I found hard to get into as his attention to detail just goes on and on and on lol.

Pride

Defined as: satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.

What book do you talk about most in order to sound like an intellectual reader?

Hahaha it would have to be something by Shakespeare. I love his plays and sonnets. I studied both A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth in school. My sister and I both love Romeo & Juliet. We have Baz Luhrmann to thank for that lol! Although I’d wanted to study it long before Baz Luhrmann brought his magnificent version of Romeo & Juliet to the big screen.

Lust

Defined as: a strong sexual desire.

What attributes do you find attractive in male characters?

Hmm I do like a bit of cockiness and wit in a male character. Humour is also a must! I like the character to be protective and loyal too.

Envy

Defined as: a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else’s possessions, qualities, or luck.

What book would you most like to receive as a gift?

Waterstones have gorgeous special edition leatherbound books of the classics. I’d love to be given one of them as a gift. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare would be at the top, I think.

So there ya have it, those are my answers.

Thanks so much for tagging me, Katherine. It’s been so much fun!

The bloggers who I’d like to tag are:

The Bookish Universe

The Happy Typewriter

Blonde Girl Talks

Dork Chops

Blu Chicken Ninja

Can’t wait to see your answers! And I hope you didn’t mind me tagging you. 😊

City of Lost Souls Cover Reveal and Teaser!

Today The City of Lost Souls (the 5th installment of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare) cover has been revealed. Here it is!

20120104-173942.jpg

So, what do you think? I don’t know about you guys but I literally gasped and said “Ohhh that’s so preeeettyyyy” and hugged my phone then proceeded to set the cover as my phone’s wallpaper (which was previously the cover of Clockwork Prince).

Ugh is it May yet? No? Wellll, until then, to help feed our addiction, here is the prologue to CoLS:

‘ Simon stood and stared numbly at the front door of his house.
He’d never known another home. This was the place his parents had brought him home to when he was born. He had grown up within the walls of the Brooklyn row house. He’d played on the street under the leafy shade of the trees in the summer, and had made improvised sleds out of garbage can lids in the winter. In this house his whole family had sat shivah after his father had died. Here he had kissed Clary for the first time.
He had never imagined a day when the door of the house would be closed to him. The last time he had seen his mother, she had called him a monster and prayed at him that he would go away. He had made her forget that he was a vampire, using glamour, but he had not known how long the glamour would last. As he stood in the cold autumn air, staring in front of him, he knew it had not lasted long enough.
The door was covered with signs—Stars of David splashed on in paint, the incised shape of the symbol for Chai, life. Tefillin were bound to the doorknob and knocker. A hamesh, the Hand of God, covered the peephole.
Numbly he put his hand to the metal mezuzah affixed to the right side of the doorway. He saw the smoke rise from the place where his hand touched the holy object, but he felt nothing. No pain. Only a terrible empty blankness, rising slowly into a cold rage.
He kicked the bottom of the door and heard the echo through the house. “Mom!” he shouted. “Mom, it’s me!”
There was no reply—only the sound of the bolts being turned on the door. His sensitized hearing had recognized his mother’s footsteps, her breathing, but she said nothing. He could smell acrid fear and panic even through the wood. “Mom!” His voice broke. “Mom, this is ridiculous! Let me in! It’s me, Simon!”
The door juddered, as if she had kicked it. “Go away!” Her voice was rough, unrecognizable with terror. “Murderer!”
“I don’t kill people.” Simon leaned his head against the door. He knew he could probably kick it down, but what would be the point? “I told you. I drink animal blood.”
He heard her whisper, softly, several words in Hebrew. “You killed my son,” she said. “You killed him and put a monster in his place.”
“I am your son—”
“You wear his face and speak with his voice, but you are not him! You’re not Simon!” Her voice rose to almost a scream. “Get away from my house before I kill you, monster!”
“Becky,” he said. His face was wet; he put his hands up to touch it, and they came away stained: His tears were bloody. “What have you told Becky?”
“Stay away from your sister.” Simon heard a clattering from inside the house, as if something had been knocked over.
“Mom,” he said again, but this time his voice wouldn’t rise. It came out as a hoarse whisper. His hand had begun to throb. “I need to know—is Becky there? Mom, open the door. Please—”
“Stay away from Becky!” She was backing away from the door; he could hear it. Then came the unmistakeable squeal of the kitchen door swinging open, the creak of the linoleum as she walked on it. The sound of a drawer being opened. Suddenly he imagined his mother grabbing for one of the knives.
Before I kill you, monster.
The thought rocked him back on his heels. If she struck out at him, the Mark would rise. It would destroy her as it had destroyed Lilith.
He dropped his hand and backed up slowly, stumbling down the steps and across the sidewalk, fetching up against the trunk of one of the big trees that shaded the block. He stood where he was, staring at the front door of his house, marked and disfigured with the symbols of his mother’s hate for him.
No, he reminded himself. She didn’t hate him. She thought he was dead. What she hated was something that didn’t exist. I am not what she says I am.
He didn’t know how long he would have stood there, staring, if his phone hadn’t begun to ring, vibrating his coat pocket.
He reached for it reflexively, noticing that the pattern from the front of the mezuzah—interlocked Stars of David—was burned into the palm of his hand. He switched hands and put the phone to his ear. “Hello?”
“Simon?” It was Clary. She sounded breathless. “Where are you?”
“Home,” he said, and paused. “My mother’s house,” he amended. His voice sounded hollow and distant to his own ears. “Why aren’t you back at the Institute? Is everyone all right?”
“That’s just it,” she said. “Just after you left, Maryse came back down from the roof where Jace was supposed to be waiting. There was no one there.”
Simon moved. Without quite realizing he was doing it, like a mechanical doll, he began walking up the street, toward the subway station. “What do you mean, there was no one there?”
“Jace was gone,” she said, and he could hear the strain in her voice. “And so was Sebastian.”
Simon stopped in the shadow of a bare-branched tree. “But he was dead. He’s dead, Clary—”
“Then you tell me why he isn’t there, because he isn’t,” she said, her voice finally breaking. “There’s nothing up there but a lot of blood and broken glass. They’re both gone, Simon. Jace is gone. . . .” ’

Dun, dun, dun!!

Clockwork Prince news by Dayna

It has been quite an exciting week for fans of Cassandra Clare (including myself). On Wednesday, Mundie Moms exclusively revealed the cover of Clockwork Prince (Book #2 in the Infernal Devices series a prequel to The Mortal Instruments series):

On the front of the cover we have Jem in front of the Temple Bar, Fleet street, London. I think it’s absolutely beautiful! Cliff Nielson (who designed the covers for both The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series) is so incredibly talented. If I was an aspiring author I’d be honored to have him design the covers of my books.

So what do you guys think to the cover?

Also, yesterday Mundie Source exclusively revealed the chapter titles for Clockwork Prince and their meanings. Go here to check them out! After reading about them, December 6th can’t come soon enough! I can guarantee there will have been plenty of deciphering going on amongst the fans trying to figure out what could be in store for each chapter. I know I’m itching to find out!
