Gossip Girl is revealed in the 100th Episode!!! Yes it’s really her! **Spoilers** by L

SO PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE LATEST EPISODE OF GOSSIP GIRLS.

IF YOU HAVE SEEN EPISODE 13 PLEASE SCROLL DOWN!

So I was really sick last week and spent all week catching up on my favourite shows 12 hours a day. I got to watch the latest episode of Gossip Girl. It was Blair’s wedding to Louie and I knew it was going to be an awesome episode! I wasn’t disappointed! The wedding was fantastic and went out with the traditional GG bang! I’m still a ‘Chair’ fan! Blair and Chuck always and forever!

However at the end Gossip Girl was revealed. I didn’t expect this and I certaintly didn’t expect it to be Georgina!!!

So I put my Upper East Side head on and thought, right if they were going to reveal the real Gossip Girl they would have come up with something better than closing the episode showing Georgina uploading a post to the site. I was thinking they would do more of a ‘Nate finds out who she is, enlisted the gang to trap her and show the world who she is in total Gossip Girl style’, so I began to think maybe this is a cover? But nope it is not. According to all the interview’s I’ve read today, the producers and writers have said that Georgina IS the real Gossip Girl! However Kristen Bell will always be the voice!

What do you guys think? I am bit in shock over it!

Oh BTW I am even more in love with Chuck Bass than ever!!!!!!!

The Lying Game – TV Show Review. Written by L

The TV Show – The Lying Game came from the book series by Sara Shepard. The story is about long lost twins Sutton and Emma who were separated at babies. Sutton was adopted by the Mercer family who reside in Phoenix where as Emma grew up in Vegas in foster care. The twins live very different lives until they are reunited and switch places while Sutton goes off as Emma to find their birth mother. This series is full of mystery, secrets and lies!

Sutton accuses Emma of stealing her life as she goes on an investigation trail to find out about their past as Sutton finds her self in many awkward positions. In the mean time Emma is pretending to be Sutton and keeping her life going whilst finding out some secrets of her own and stealing Sutton’s boyfriend Ethan ( Who i may add is undeniably gorgeous!) .

That is all I am going to say because the show hasn’t aired in the UK yet so a lot of our readers haven’t seen it yet and I don’t want to go and ruin it for you all! All I can say is this show is fantastic! So along with my other favorite American shows, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars I am now obsessed with The Lying Game! Next I am going to investigate Switched at Birth as Lisa from Bound By Books has told me Blair Redford who plays Ethan is in it and I have to admit I am a teeny bit in love with this man!

Find out more about the show here

And….. here is the trailer!

Oh and whilst doing my research I found out a few facts! Alexandra Chando who plays the twins actually screen tested with Robert Pattinson to play to role of Ally in Remember Me! She also audition for Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries – Is it just me or does Alexandra strike an uncanny resemblance to Nina Dobrev? I’m glad she didn’t get either of them as playing Sutton/Emma is perfect for her!

My favourite by far was Charlize Theron in Doir. IMO you can’t go wrong in a simply Dior. Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon looked stunning also!

The worst dressed was undoubtedly Sarah Michelle Gellar who admitted her daughter chose this dip dyed dress by Monique Lhuillier. It is horrendous!

Torchwood Miracle Day Review – Finale! S

Hey guys, Sorry i had to stop posting my reviews but i have been seriously busy lately sorting out stuff for school as this is my final year! Help!

Anyway if you are an avid torchwood fan like myself then you will know that the finale of Miracle Day aired in the UK last thursday night – and wasn’t it a fabulous ending..

To quickly sum up what happened in the last 4 weeks of the episodes we have learnt these following key points:

- The Miracle dates back to the beginning of time but was undiscovered

- It is down to Jack meeting a man names Angelo that the Miracle happened

- The Miracle is down to a morphic field that is controlled by 3 families

- there is one person in the CIA who is working for the families

- The miracle is a living thing

- the miracle can be found in Buenos Aires and Shanghai

- Gwen’s dad is going to die – either by the furnaces or by the miracle ending.

So in the FINAL episode the miracle either had to be solved or it would have escalated. We were left at the end of episode 9 with Rex and Esther in Buenos Aires and Jack and Gwen AND Oswald Danes in Shanghai at both ends of the miracle. In the finale they battle their way past security guards (J, G & O) and Rex and Esther get control of the Buenos Aires army as they have a secret weapon – Jack’s blood. Unfortunately another secret family worker is in the buenos aires army and blows up a army truck containing the case of the most important weapon – Jack’s blood. Rex and Esther continue and infiltrate the Buenos Aires miracle complex themselves – as Jack, Gwen and Oswald do. Once they get in and find the miralce they realise that they cannot end it without Jack’s blood being on either side (in Buenos Aires and Shanghai)……..HOWEVER Rex and Esther save the day….

When they arrived in Buenos Aires they knew the blood would be at risk (to stop the miracle the blessing needs to be fed mortal blood from either side to create a morphic field which will make the human race mortal again). In order to protect the blood they transfused it into Rex’s body. So, now they have the blood on each side of the world they can effectively end the miracle, but, the family tries to stop Rex from killing himself by creating a diversion – Shooting Esther in the chest. Now Rex has a terrible decision to make – does he save his very close friend by not ending the miracle – or, does he continue to end the Miracle to stop anything like this from happening again. He looks to Gwen and Jack for help. Gwen, who is determined to stop the miracle for the sake of her father orders Rex to continue for the plan and decides that jack should not be a suicide and offers to shoot him through the back (in the kindest way possible!). So, ready to go, Gwen shoots Jack and Rex uncovers his wound from the beginning of the series and the blood from their whole body gushes towards the blessing. As the Miracle ends the whole of the two complexes either sides of the world begin to crumble and fall..Gwen begins to escape and Oswald is ready to be a suicide bomber in the complex to kill the family member and to avoid a slow death BUT Jack suddenly becomes immortal again and comes back to life! Now Gwen battles Gilly for control of the lift and quickly helps Jack to escape before Oswald detonates. Back in Buenos Aires Rex and Esther – both on the brink of death get rescued by the real and true to the CIA Buenos Aires army who then take them to hospital.

Unfortunatley one of my most loved favourite characters, Esther, dies and Rex, Gwen, Jack and (Emma? – the betraying CIA member) attend her funeral when Rex receives a message saying that (Emma) was the betrayer. In a race to kill her before the family try and recreate the miracle, he tries to shoot her, but she is too quick and shoots him first….

REX IS DEAD

or not, he suddenly comes back to life – so is he immortal??

Meanwhile Gilly meets again with the family  member who sent her to Shanghai and offers her to help start with the ”plan b”….and this is where the season finished.

This series has been really tense, exciting, infuriating, heart wrenching but most of all – unpredictable – who knew the blessing was one of the most terrestrial things on the planet? Although, as we have seen from all of your previous comments that you think that teaming with Starz has potentially ruined what we liked about Torchwood – i think it made a great comeback towards the end.

Constructive Criticism – maybe make the series a bit shorter so it flows better?

I think I can safely say on behalf of the majority of you, that i would like the next series of Torchwood to be chiefly set back here in the UK with the old Torchwood hub in Cardiff. Again, as always, Russel has created another epic triumph with these scripts that have been very unpredictable!

looking forward to the next season!

I would like to thank everybody who has been reading my reviews – i would love it if you could comment below what you though of the finale and whether you think that it did the series justice. Also, share this on twitter, facebook tumblr etc as it would really help SLOFL

EPISODE 5

So, we are now half way through the series and i found this episode SHOCKING.

The majority of the episode was set in two overflow camps – the south Wales and California camp. In the camps the patients are catagorized. Category 1 = dead Category 2= injured and concious and Category 3 = normal people. In the overflow camps the category 1 people are sent to a place called ”The Module” which is hidden from the public eye. Torchwood want’s to find out what is in the module. To do this, Rex – who is already recovering from a severe wound from a car crash, pretends to suffer a category 2.

Gwen however, has gone back to Wales to try and get her father out of the South Wales concentration camp as he suffered a heart attack earlier in the series. To get inside the camp to save her father she poses as a night nurse called nurse Pallister.

Back in California Rex is coded as a category 2 by a blue peg, but swaps to red (category 1) so he can get into the module – Esther helps him as she becomes a worker within the overflow camp. Dr Vera has also joined Torchwood and poses as a camp inspector to also try and get access to the Module.

Rex finds the module first and records it as being like a fridge with ceramic walls. He then leaves the module and realises that the size of the module will never be able to meet the demand of the ”dead” bodies. Vera on the other hand isn’t so lucky and finds the way the camp is treating the patients disgusting and threatens the owner of the camp that he will be prosecuted for the bad care of the patients. However she gets shot….twice making her near to unconscious and the owner of the camp dumps her in the module and locks them up…and this is where we find out what the module really is. Rex watches the module helplessly as he sees Vera being burnt alive..in the module aka an oven.

Gwen also realises what the module is when Reece delivers some patients to the burns ward. She is horrified and calls the whole overflow camp a concentration camp (which i totally agree with). Also, whilst trying to save her dad, her father suffers another heart attack and is made a category one..dum dum dum….

Now to what i thought.

I thought this episode really was the best yet! although i found it harrowing and quite shocking when we realise the module was (you will know this if you saw my tweets on saturday!) i thought it was very exciting and at many points left you on the edge of your sofa biting your nails! i also found the scene when Jack told the paramedics that Rex was his ex lover quite funny! GOOD JOB BBC/AMERICA!? IT WAS A GREAT EPISODE AND VERY ENJOYABLE! i have to say though – it looks like everyone is going to ”die” in the next episode :(

Torchwood: Miracle Day Review – Steph.

EPISODE 4.

This episode continued well from last weeks and it also continued to have suspense and exciting moments. This episode moved from New York to Los Angeles, Venice to be precise. Here Torchwood would come to another headquarters of Pficor where they can hack into their database system and possibly find out what Pficor is doing. However, Pficor is finding out more about Torchwood and it tracking them down.

*Here is the part where i got confused….so, can someone please tell me? if the man in the black suit worked for Pficor, why was he trying to hack into the computer system aswell?

In this episode there is a new theory about the miracle and how the humans should live with it, it is called, ”Dead is Dead”. This ”scheme” means that people who should be dead are moved into a separate area and left to die. However, Oswald Danes is ”against this” and says to the patients ”Life is Life” and he is determined to feed and look after the people who should be dead. However Oswalds situation can be looked at more..is he just doing this to get back in the spotlight? after all, he was forgotten when the ”Dead is Dead” scheme got introduced.

This episode was very exciting and fulled with the traditional Torchwood gore. A scene that really had me hiding behind the sofa was when the creator of the Pficor software got his eye and hand cut off. Another gory one which again had me cringing was when the ”Dead is Dead” creator got crushed in her car by the Pficor runners. In this episode we also learnt more about Rex a which and his situation with his family i found quite aggravating.

Anyhow, i found this episode one of the most tense yet. Hopefully the next will be just as exciting!

Sorry that this is such a short review, bit short on time at the moment!

Stay tuned for the next review after episode 5!

Torchwood: Miracle Day Review – Steph

EPISODE 3:

This episode was so much of an improvement from episode 2! It was all about what Torchwood is about – living on the edge, fights, sneaking around! it was great!

The main plot of the episode was very much linked form last week when the doctors found out that they would need to manufacture more drugs to cope with the growing population of the world. In the last episode i was questioning who  Jilly Kitzinger was and in this episode i am coming to the conclusion that she is clearly linked to the scandal of drug company. Jilly invites Dr Vera to a ”meeting” at her central working place but when Vera asks Rex to tag along things go pear shaped. Dr Vera has actually been taken to a presentation all about the demand for drugs AND instead of Rex turning up Gwen enters the building in order to hack Jilly’s computer. Meanwhile another star of the show who we all hate – Oswald Danes has been making TV broadcasts all over the world to say how he thinks you should not have a prescription to get access to drugs. Oswald has also faced some haters who beat him up at the side of the road and Jack and Rex get a little bit involved (but not with each other!).

I found this episode very gripping and was a triumph compared to last weeks episode. I enjoyed seeing the return of the cyber contact lenses that Gwen had kept and felt at ease when Torchwood started to solve ”Miracle Day” rather than Dr Vera and her panel of doctors. I did think that some of the more sexual scenes may not have been appropriate (Jack and the barman), especially as it was just after the watershed, but i can see what the message of the scene was. I also like how this episode was more beleivable…seeing Esther upset about leaving her home and family to be a part of Torchwood, seeing people annoyed that Oswald was still free – it just all added to the effect. Rex’s character, i know, is someone who many of you don’t like due to his personality of being cockey and quite ignorant. I agree with you all but i think in this episode there was room for Rex to have these traits as it proved that Torchwood can handle situations like this by themselves. I am beginning to really like the character of Esther, i loved the scene between her and Gwen at around 20mins into the episode..very emotional and some outstanding acting on Alexa Havins part.

I was happy to see that the comedy in this episode was toned down in comparison to episode 2. I think the main gags were Esther correcting Gwen with lemonade being flat, ATMs, Cell Phones etc. i really liked that realistic touch that everyone in the UK/US can relate to! My only concerns for the upcoming episodes is that Torchwood: Miracle Day lasts 10 episodes..and i am intrigued to see how far they can make this story line effectively last. Your comments?

Torchwood: Miracle Day (episode 2) Review – Steph

So, after the cliff hanger Torchwood left last week I was hoping for something bigger and more exciting than episode one. I was slightly disappointed that this weeks episode was more about talking and resolving the problem of ”Miracle Day” although I am aware that you can’t always have chases, helicopters etc.

In this episode the CIA agent Rex Matheson is taking Torchwood – Jack and Gwen back to America where he says they will be interrogated as he thinks Torchwood is the cause  ”Miracle Day”. In this episode i began to dislike the collaboration between Cymru Wales with Starz. When I was reading your comments I could see where you all were coming from and as I was watching this episode i could clearly see your arguments. In this episode Jack and Gwen (Torchwood) were not solving the problem of ”Miracle Day” but it was the doctors – some of whom were irrelevant as we only met them in this episode, therefore making less of an impact on the target audience <– yes, I am referring to the man with the iPad. I missed the old Torchwood.

However, on the more positive note..

I enjoyed how Russell T Davis added a twist to the story by making the CIA want to get rid of anyone who has been in contact with Torchwood (Rex and Esther) as this gave more substance to the episode, i particularly enjoyed when Rex’s co-worker from the CIA poisoned Jack (the last mortal) with arsenic. In my opinion the main event of the episode was Gwen creating the antidote for Jacks arsenic poisoning which resulted in her tearing the plane apart, the in which they were being taken to the States in. I also enjoyed how Russell T Davis added some lighter jokes to the episode such as the dilemma as to whether the air steward was gay or not and also the fact that he wasn’t allowed to talk to Jack or Gwen. However i found that at one point Davis may have gone one too many with the jokes and started to turn the situation into a scene from a comedy.

A few questions were risen during this episode..Who is the woman who is handing out business cards to Oswald Danes and the Dr? Why is the CIA trying to get rid of Esther and Rex and Torchwood? What is going on with Oswald Danes? I am beginning to feel quite uneasy with Danes, he makes me feel on edge, so great acting there! I also found this episode quite emotional, for instance when Gwen is taken away from her husband and daughter – Eve Myles really conveyed that anxiety and pain well! and overall this scene was very tense.

I was hoping for some more gore in this episode as there was so much in the previous one but to my dismay there was only snapshots of the first episode in the beginning and towards the end when we see that Rex’s co-worker (he broke her neck) has her head back to front. Hopefully next week’s episode will go back to the normal Torchwood standards!

Overall this episode was good. Yes, it was exciting but not to the level that episode one was. However the trailer for next week looks a lot better!

I would just like to thank everyone who commented and shared my last Miracle Day review. I enjoyed reading all of your feedback and i would love it if you could discuss Torchwood more in the comments below! i would also like to thank the SLOFL team for checking stats and sites for me while i was on holiday, i came home to the surprise of being mentioned on the BBC website, all of your comments on my review AND the fact that my review had over 600 views!! THANK YOU! -S

Torchwood: Miracle Day Review by Steph

Today on BBC1 was the comeback of the much-loved TV series ”Torchwood” written by the ex doctor who writer Russel T Davis. The show bases around an institution that protects the world from everything evil, supernatural and alien.

The series was originally by Cymru Wales but Cymru has now teamed up with the American channel starz which is probably a contributing factor that this storyline is based in the US.

We now find out that Torchwood has closed down and Gwen, the female lead is hiding in a small coastal house with her husband and her new daughter. Jack on the other hand has taken a new name and is in the FBI, or what have you! Gwen is a completely different character and is now afraid of Torchwood and if anyone knocks of her door she assumes they are planning to hurt her and approach her with a gun.

The main story to this ongoing episode is that since 22:36pm on sunday night there had been no deaths on planet earth. This started when a convicted Paedophile and murderer Oswald Danes was sentenced to receive the lethal injection, but when the fluid entered his body the only effect it had on him was a spasm attack. He remained alive. Another case was when a CIA agent, Rex was on his phone while driving and collided with a lorry carrying metal poles. A pole went straight through his upper torso, yet he survived. So, after 22:36pm people were beginning to call this day ”Miracle Day” and thought of this as being evolution or God’s blessing. Rex soon becomes aware of what has happened and knows that he should be dead, he wants to get to the bottom of this and end miracle day. The state of the world with miracle day would mean that civilisation would only last 4 months before food ran out and people could no longer survive.

What Rex hasn’t figured out yet is at 22:36pm on that same sunday a virus hit the CIA computers with one word..Torchwood. When his co worker points this out Rex abandons his hospital bed and catches the first plane to Heathrow to hunt down Gwen Cooper and Captain Jack Harkness. Gwen is terrified that someone has found her and her family and tries to pack up and leave her family home. However, a helicopter emerges and starts to attack the house….

But Hooray Jack is to the rescue and reunites with Gwen after a year of being apart! they bring down the helicopter and head back into Cardiff to help Rex find out what is happening to the human race. Gwen and Jack do not realise that Rex has doubled crossed them (in some way) and he extradites them to the CIA in America!

That was just a brief synopsis of what happened and do remember that this episode continues next thursday at 9pm on BBC1 in the UK. This episode was a great comeback for Russell T Davis and the gang, it brought everything that Torchwood is about and more. Now it has teamed up with the US it most probably has a larger budget and now the programme seems to have more of a cinematic effect. Unlike ”Doctor Who” i think Torchwood has benefited from the team up. I do think that this programme has kept its goriness to the max – especially when a blown-up, char-grilled body is still alive and conscious – even with its head cut off! To be truthful, i don’t think you need to have watched the previous series of Torchwood as this episode was easily accessible. So, if you have nothing to watch on thursday nights – Watch Torchwood and you are sure to have some ”hide behind your sofa” moments!
