************The Forest of Adventures Spoiler Alert************
The way Mina is handling Blake’s departure is just heartbreaking. I think we’ve all been there to some extent and can empathise with the pain she is going through. Since Blake left, Mina’s Uncle Josef has been the shoulder she can cry on, the one who will wade through the misery right along side her because he too knows what it feels like to be heartbroken. Delta on the other hand is like a rock to Mina and will hold her up and keep her afloat and make her do those normal mundane things when all she wants to do is drown in her misery and with the help of both Delta and Josef and also the added help of Daisy (I was glad to see her and Mina trying to work things out), they attempt to get Mina back to a little normalcy. Mina is just going through the motions though. Little do they no the inner turmoil she suffers.
Just when she’s given up, The Realm comes back in to her life and she is informed that Blake is in danger and only she can save him. Mina, along with her friends, Delta and Sam, must go on a perilous journey to Egypt to save Blake and bring him home. A journey that will change them all forever.
It’s nice to be back in this magical story. Ohhh I love the whole Ancient Egypt-ness! That and Greek mythology were one of my favourite things to learn about in school! On reading Immortal Beloved, I got all excited at the mythology of Ancient Egypt coming to life and actually seen as being true in the world of The Knight Trilogy. I’ve always found it so interesting and magical – captivating – and Katie’s telling of it didn’t disappoint. I got so lost in the story and felt like I was right there with Blake. Speaking of Blake, I love that the book is written in first person from Mina’s POV and in third person from Blake’s. I love reading a story from both sides of the coin.
Katie takes you on twists and turns that find you mistrusting those you thought you could trust and trusting those you probably shouldn’t. I still have my suspicions about one particular character and I think Mina’s trust in him is the reason behind what happened to her.
There is an interesting twist that is appearing between Delta and Mina. You get a glimpse of this near the beginning of the story. Delta is definitely one of my favourite characters. She’s not the toughnut she makes herself out to be. Love her! As someone who hasn’t flown before, remind me not to get on a plane with Delta! She’s so mean lol! Delta has me in stitches! She’s so mean to Sam ha ha ha! I love the witty banter that goes on between them 2. I would love to have seen what went on in that car with Delta and Sam. Lol! Saying that, it didn’t really need much explaining. Ha ha ha. Delta and Sam have a love/hate relationship (or maybe hate/hate is more apt) at the beginning but it really develops through out the story. Although you could kind of see it coming.
The character, Florin makes a very brief appearance in Immortal Beloved but although brief, he makes quite an impact on the reader. I’m thinking he will most definitely be making a re-appearance in the next book. There’s just something….suspect about him – more than meets the eye with that one. He’s definitely not just some hot French teaching assistant I’m sure of it. Ms. Minerva the librarian has cropped up in the story a couple times. I’m wondering if she’ll feature more in the next book. It was her surname that got me wondering. Hmmm…
And :-O at the ending. I can’t believe it ended there! A perfect way to end book 2 though. What a cliffhanger! After reading that, the preface makes sooo much sense. A whimpering noise escaped me the second time I read it. I absolutely loved this book. An amazing and captivating read that drew me in from the very beginning. I wasn’t sure if combining both The Realm and Ancient Egypt mythology would work but somehow it does although I do miss the focus being on The Realm. I’m hoping there’ll be more focus on it in book 3. Can not wait to find out what happens!
I rate this book 5/5
NB: This was an ARC kindly given to us by the author.

Immortal Beloved is the follow up to The Forest of Adventures. If you follow us on Twitter you will know that me and Dayna love this author! I had the chance to beta read this for Katie M John so here is my review!
Now Blake has gone, Mina is left alone. Now its time for the next installment where it’s up to Mina to save Blake along with her ex boyfriend Sam and best friend Delta’s help!
The beginning is very powerful, strong, effective and I feel sorry for Mina. I love Mina and Delta’s relationship and I can tell it will be strong. Through the beginning of the book I started to feel very attached to Mina, like she is my sister, I want to protect her. I think everybody can relate to the pain Mina feels, I just wanted to hug her so bad!!
My heart broke when she received the news that Blake is dead. I wanted to whisper ‘ he isn’t dead’.
Then the fun starts, Mina, Sam and Delta go to Egypt to save Blake. Mina starts to realise the power that The Realm holds. This is where Blake comes into the book. He has little passages where we can see his feelings, whats happening to him. I really likes that because we the readers knew more of what was happening to them but had to keep reading to see what was about to happen! Does that make sense? I doubt it. It also shows a lot of what Vivien meant without giving away anything at all!
I like how descriptive the chapters are. They really do set the scene and allow me to feel what they are all feeling. Many different descriptive words are used, no repeated words which makes it very strong. It is a very strong book! Throughout the book little hieroglyphics pop up this is sooo cool!!
I love Delta and Sam together!!! Delta is beyond hilarious! You can tell she loves him really. I can relate a lot to her. Her character is mysterious but open. I would love to know more about her and her past. I couldn’t imagine Daisy in Delta’s position at all. Wouldn’t even want to imagine!
One thing I liked about this book was how Mina has remained Mina and not ‘ Realm-ish’ at all. Some books I have read turn that main character and adapt them to the circumstance they are in and I don’t like it. I love Mina’s innocence and determination. It’s cute.
One of my happy moments of this book was when Mina and Blake consummate – beautiful and when they return to the training yard, I was in stitches. Absolutely hilarious!
The ending was amazing, confusing. I have so many thoughts; is she or isn’t she? What’s really going on? If Vivien knew, why didn’t she tell Mina? I was panicking! The whole series so far has been so real to me. This one in particular – I had to remind myself its not real! I felt as though I was a reading a biography of Mina’s life!
I rate this 5/5!

The Forest of Adventures – Katie M. John.
For seventeen year old Mina Singer, falling in love with an Arthurian Knight on a white horse was never part of the plan – especially being that she’s an ordinary college girl living in the twenty first century.
As Mina finds herself catapulted into a land she believed only existed in the bedtime stories of her childhood, she soon discovers that Fairyland is not quite as innocent as she imagined.
The question is…who will come out alive?
Haunting, beautiful and sexy, The Forest of Adventures, is a dark romantic quest into the land of true and forbidden love.
Mina and Sam are childhood sweethearts but then she meets the mysterious Blake and her life is completely turned around. He introduces her to a world that she thought was only a legend, a myth. Never in her wildest dreams did she think the Arthurian legend could be real.
Being a fan of the medieval times, I love the magical-ness and romanticism involved in this story and how the Arthurian Legend was cleverly intertwined with modern day. Reading this book I felt like I had been transported into The Realm. I felt like I was right there amongst the knights, the swords, the pavilions and was just itching to wear the gorgeous clothes they wore. I could picture it so vividly in my mind.
I actually like The Realm’s stance on the role of women in their society. They were seen as very powerful and intelligent women. They were respected. If a woman had a baby, everyone would help out so her life wouldn’t change too much and she could still do the things she wants to do. It was only talked about a little in the story but it was just something that stuck in my head.
At first I was torn as to whether Mina should be with Sam or Blake but I think she made the right choice in the end. It didn’t stop me from feeling gutted for the guy that she chose not to be with though. I really felt for him.
Big thanks to Lauren for recommending TFoA to me. She knows my book tastes so well! I’m sure she was pleased that I’d finally read the book so she’d have someone to gossip with about it I’d have to completely agree with her about the mercy fight! That was so shocking! I still can’t get over what happened!
I’m still in denial about the ending. I’m choosing to believe that all is not as it seems. I think it’s an evil trick *keeps telling herself that*
Overall, an enthralling read that I want to read again and again! Very excited for the sequel, Immortal Beloved!
I rate this book 5/5.

I found Katie M John on twitter and checked out her website. I was curious but a bit skeptical I’m not a big fan of the fairyland. However I was intrigued so I went and bought it. I am so glad I did because I LOVED it!!
For my reviews I write a diary of feelings and thoughts at the time of reading. First thought was excellent start, I was pulled in straight away. The beginning was “normal” as in no fairyland tricks yet so I knew it wasn’t just all about The Realm.
I loved Mina and Sam, they are so sweet but I knew where that was going. My first thought’s of Blake were he is too good to be true, he is romantic, sweet and gorgeous! I loved the value’s that were brought into this book. The moral’s Blake held were really sweet and warming.
I was surprised by Sam, (I am trying to hard to keep spoilers out of this but it’s so hard) he wasn’t at all what I expected. I thought maybe that some his decisions would be one of the plots but I was wrong. So I am not going to mention any more specifics because I will end up writing spoilers. One thing I will point out is the moment in the Meele/mercy fight, I had no idea what was to come, I was shocked! I loved the symbolicalness of everything in that chapter. The romantics of “Favors” made me go awwww! I am just very excited about this! I want to discuss it with someone! Note to Dayna: Hurry up and finish it!!!
The whole book flowed really well there was no complicated elements to it at all. It was truly enjoyable to read. The one worry I had about this was that I would find it hard to believable but I was proven wrong. I believed everything! I have never been a big history buff but I loved the Arthurian Legend elements to this book, It has made me want to go to the library and find out more! It had a bit of a Meg Cabot feel to it when she wrote Avalon High. I wasn’t a fan of that it was a bit too far-fetched for me but there was something in The Forest of Adventures that pulled me into their world. I want to take a day trip to The Realm!! Oh and I want to ride Lancelot please
One thing that made me giggle was the fact the when reading the relationship between Mina and her mother, it made me realise mothers aren’t always right! Always follow your heart!!
I have tried reading a few fairy/fantasy/fairyland stories but I just thought I was too old for them but this book has shown me I am not! I cannot wait for the second installment.
Overall I would rate this 4/5, Go get it now! Don’t forget to follow Kate on Twitter! @KnightTrilogy ** Check back for an interview with Katie and a special giveaway very soon **
